Dizraeli - Animal Noises presented by Lexicon featuring Jemima Hughs and local poets as support

Rapper, producer, firestarter. Songwriter, multi instrumentalist-raconteur... Dizraeli is a genre of his own. From his debut solo album Engurland (City Shanties) to touring the world and releasing the acclaimed Moving In The Dark with The Small Gods, on the way collaborating with artists as diverse as Nubiyan Twist, Kae Tempest, Jam Baxter and Eliza Carthy... and releasing his solo masterpiece The Unmaster, nominated for Album of the Year by Gilles Peterson in the 2020 Worldwide Awards... Diz has always forged his own way.

2023 sees Dizraeli publish his first book on the Continuous Breath imprint : Animal Noises, a collection of lyrics, diary entries, experimental writings and surreal illustrations drawn from the margins of his notebooks. Animal Noises is a searingly honest exploration of the mess of human creation, and it bursts with life : think Dylan Thomas meeting Black Thought at a John Cage concert, and you're halfway there.

For the Animal Noises tour, Diz strips his craft to the bones, sharing writings on fatherhood, sex and the end of the world with that ferociously sharp lyricism and sense of the absurd that is his trademark.

Jemima Hughs

Sit back and don't relax. A multi slam winner and runner up in the 2020 UK Slam! Jemima Hughes is a performance poet who will drag you through the "mindfield" of the unorthodox. Her work emphasises mental health awareness and covers taboo subjects such as sexual violence, mental illness and suicide. Jemima will take you on a journey through her own experiences, providing a relatable outlet and encouraging conversation. Always a gripping performance, she will leave you questioning whether she meant to do that or whether she needs to go and have a lie down. Not for the faint hearted, but always from the heart.
